Job Description
Reports to: Therapeutic Area Head, Immunology
PRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE
To lead medical team and activities in responsible therapeutic areas. Set and execute Medical Affairsstrategies for the responsible therapeutic areas.
To set and deliver medical affairs strategies which generate, evaluate and communicate scientific evidenceto support the needs of health care professionals and patients in covered therapeutic areas, in line with thestrategic priorities of the brand and company, and all prevailing governance requirements.
To make recommendations regarding staffing levels and structure for the team, and to plan and managebudget within prevailing finance guidance.
To support the Korea Medical Director to build the organisation, ensuring the medical department is fullyintegrated to support the strategy and affiliate business, while being functionally independent and operatingwithin a culture of ethical and compliant behaviour.
Serve as Medical Advisor for the Dermatology therapeutic area, providing scientific, technical, and strategic expertise.
Lead the development and execution of the annual medical affairs strategy and plans, while contributing to long-range strategic planning for the TA portfolio.
Build, manage, and motivate the medical affairs team, including setting clear responsibilities, goals, and expectations.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance across the medical affairs organization.
Manage the assigned budget in line with financial guidance and business priorities.
Support team development through individualized development plans, training, capability-building, and career planning.
Drive a patient-focused, customer-centric approach and maintain strong, credible relationships with key external stakeholders and experts.
Ensure timely medical and scientific support to internal cross-functional teams, including brand, HEOR/market access, and sales, based on evidence and best practice.
Lead evidence-generation activities, including affiliate research studies and global GMA research projects, in alignment with strategy and compliance requirements.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, codes, AbbVie policies, and standards, including medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials.
Qualifications
Advanced Degree (Medical degree or PhD) with relevant specialty experience preferred.
Pharmaceutical industry medical affairs experience
Experience in pre-launch and launch phases of a new product or indication.
Clinical research experience or knowledge highly valued
Management experience essential
Strong knowledge and experience within portfolio area
Proven leadership skills in a cross-functional team environment
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact at senior executive level, with internal and
external stakeholders
Highly developed strategic thinking, problem solving, multi-tasking and prioritisation skills
Strong budget planning and management skills
